Have you ever been stood up for a lunch date? Well as of three hours ago today I was, and by one of my best friends! And you know who you are! But this isn’t a rant about being a suckie friend, it’s about the great service I received at the Mississauga Jack Astor’s.

Now I’m not a huge fan of the “Big Box” restaurant set up, but this particular location has a nice outdoor patio so you don’t know you are in the middle of the Mississauga City Center concrete jungle. It is killer hot today so the big umbrella and hanging plants were an excellent escape from the heat while enjoying the last few days of summer.

My server was totally on the ball, not only did she search the restaurant two times for my friend (who again will remain nameless but you know who you are!) but she was very quick to bring my food once I decided to give up on my buddy arriving and get some food in my belly. I had the Pad Thai, which of coarse was bland, it’s Jack Astor’s they need to be able to serve ethnic food without insulting the vanilla palette of most of their customers but my wine was very tasty. I had a glass (or 1 1/2 if we’re being totally honest) of Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc their website describes it as; Crisp and refreshing, with lovely flavours of ripe grapefruit, gooseberry and pineapple. Fresh, zingy acidity dominates the palate with some pleasant fruit sweetness and good weight, and I totally agree.

As I sat and sipped my wine and ate my lunch my server was by a few times to see how everything was. I appreciated her promptness, wished my friend had the same characteristics. All in all food was mehh, wine great, service and patio equally as great. If you are stuck in Mississauga and looking for a quick meal with good service, I recommend Jack Astor’s.

I have been stood up a few times… Not by best friends though; Maybe I just categorize them differently
Luckily – Monkey Bay saved the Monkey Business Date…:)!
