I have walked by this store front over 100 times and never went in. I’ve always admired the cookies in the window but I don’t really have a sweet tooth so I didn’t feel that thing that chocolate lovers feel when they see piles of yummy chocolate frosted cup cakes, you know when they want to throw themselves at the food…or they start to salivate like dogs. But alas, once again I was wrong, it’s not just cookies and cakes in Bread and Roses, it’s comfort food meca.
Shawn and I went for brunch a few weeks ago and have been back three times since, you think I like it? The first time, I ordered a BLT on Egg Bread…The bread was fresh baked, and melted in my mouth. The eggs made it taste so buttery. A few days later in the week I had and egg salad sandwich on egg bread again and was swept off my feet in egg heaven. It was very rich but completely worth the 900 calories. I didn’t eat for the rest of the day, nor did I need to.
This week Shawn was feeling a bit down so we went and had some comfort food at Bread and Roses in the form of their whole-made soups. Again, not disappointed! I had lentil soup and he has cucumber/potato, both were super thick and had hints of dill that brought it all together.
If you are looking for great comfort food, or something to warm you up on a cool day or a pretty sweet treat, walk into Bread and Roses, their friendly staff will make you feel warm inside followed by come great food.
