In this month issue of Toronto Life “The City’s Best Bars” more than halfway through the issue you will come across a double page spread of mouth watering photo’s of breakfast sandwiches. It was this page that inspired Shawn and me to head out to Porchetta and Co. this Saturday morning. I’m torn writing this review as I think my experience would have been a 4 of 5 or maybe a 5 of 5 if I wasn’t in the mist of my detox.
First let me say, I love the little location, the open kitchen, the small bar area and the simple menu all make my heart and belly sing. The food, looks and smells delightful! And judging by the line up out the door, I’m not the only one who feels that way. I ordered the “Breakfast Sandwich” Porchetta, Crackling, Fried Egg & Smoked Gouda and I was very excited to unwrap my sandwich and chow down. But bite one was full of more fat then I had thought, so was bite two and three. The taste was amazing! The grainy mustard, the smoked Gouda cheese all good, but too rich for this girl on Saturday morning. It is breaking my heart to say those words and I’m going to go back again but my first experience was more pork belly than I bargained for. But go check it out for yourself, they are the talk of the town. Even looking at the pictures now my mouth waters.
