Top 10 Proteins to help with INSOMNIA

Insomnia, my nemesis! I think I was born awake…I know your thinking duh Heather of course you were, what I mean is that as far back as I can remember, I’m talking 3 years old I’ve had trouble falling asleep and staying asleep at night. In a typical night, if I’m lucky I will sleep for a full 4 hours.  Right now I am begging the gods of sleep for those 4 hours.  It has been 5 days and I’m in the bowls of insomnia!  Lucky to get 45min of straight sleep, followed by 2-3 hrs of being awake.  It’s been a while since it’s been this bad so I’m on another mission to naturally fix this with food and supplements.  If my boyfriend is reading this he will laugh at me, he lovely makes fun of me for thinking I can cure everything with “twigs & berries”.  For years I took Gravol to help me sleep but I haven’t taken one in over 7 months and I don’t want to go back!  So here is my morning journey looking for the natural food alternative.

There are tons of articles about how tryptophan is a natural sedative.  It makes sense, for most people (I’m not included here) the first form of food was our mothers milk full of the amino acid tryptophan. This was more than enough evidence for me to start my search here. The best summary of foods comes from my favourite site World’s Healthiest Foods here is a list of the foods that are most potent, the full list and a detailed explanation can be found by clicking on the link above.

 Chicken
 Soybeans
 Tuna
 Turkey
 Venison
 Salmon
 Lamb
 Halibut
 Shrimp
 Cod

This list is great for me because I am a protein junky! Next, herbs and lifestyle changes to help me sleep better.  Do you have any idea’s or tips, send them over! This girl is craving sleep more than food! That is a scary thought!
